Think Different: Three Activities for Biographical Research In 1998, the one-minute commercial featured black-and-white footage of 17 iconic 20th century personalities. In order of appearance they were: Albert Einstein, Bob Dylan, Martin Luther Kimng, Jr., Richard Branson, John Lennon (with Yoko Ono, Buckminster Fuller, Thomas Edison, Muhammad Ali, Ted Turner, Maria Callas, Mohandas Gandhi, Amelia Earhart, Alfred Hitchcock, Martha Graham, Jim Henson (with Kermit the Frog), Frank Lloyd Wright, and Pablo Picasso. The commercial ends with an image of a young girl opening her closed eyes, as if making a wish.

“Here’s to the Different Ones” Watch the original television advertisement and write an art response -- what is the effect and how is that effect produced -- you know.

YOUR TURN: “Here’s to the New Different Ones” -- Create your own list of at least five people who live (or have lived) during your lifetime who have the same savoir faire of the original “Different Ones.” Of course, explain your choices. One well-written, focused sentence for each.
